Educational Outreach Program Manager - 16 Month Contract

As a Program Manager for Educational Outreach you will play a lead role in the creation, delivery, budget, and measurement of Perimeter Institute’s outreach programing, effectively leading outreach personnel and external stakeholders within each program under their charge.

This position is being offered as a 16 month contract opportunity which includes salary, extended health insurance, paid vacation, time away from work and a flexible, dynamic work environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

Program Coordination

The Program Manager is actively engaged with a wide set of programs – involving strategizing, planning, logistics, budgets, in-project personnel management, and execution – that include, but are not limited to, the following initiatives:

  • Canadian Programs (Student and Teacher)
  • International Programming (Student and Teacher)
  • Metrics Tracking and Reporting (Canadian and International)
  • Online Resource Centre management and development
  • Website content for Outreach initiatives
  • Outreach finance processes, oversight and tracking

Responsibility for Program Success

The Program Manager will ensure successful delivery of each program by:

  • Managing internal and external personnel time and tasks within each program
  • Leading the collaborative decision-making processes of each program as they relate to the creation, development, and delivery of the initiative
  • Evaluating the program effectiveness in terms of cost, impact, content, content delivery modes, and delivery strategies (including marketing)
  • Ensuring institutional IDEA initiatives are demonstrated in programming
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure Outreach programming is leveraged for social media, web stories, Advancement and External audiences

Planning and Budgets

The Program Manager will:

  • Assist in developing and managing detailed budgets for assigned programs 
  • Propel the overall scheduling, delivery, and measurement of the outreach programs

Perimeter Ambassador 

The Program Manager will also serve as a front-line Perimeter representative among a wide variety of parties for the effective handling of:

  • Presentation of Outreach initiatives to internal and external audiences 
  • External inquiries and handling of special guests relating to the Institute’s Outreach initiatives
  • Face-to-face interactions with high level Perimeter partners and VIPs - both on-site at Perimeter and at on-location workshops
  • Growing positive relationships among regional, national and international outreach partners 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Completed post secondary education, Bachelor of Education is a valuable asset
  • 3 years or more of experience in program or event management, in-class teaching experience will be considered especially valuable 
  • Proven success working in a dynamic, fast-paced team setting
  • Demonstrated achievements in the development and delivery of large-scale programs
  • Demonstrated ability in managing staff and volunteers and coordinating teachers, researchers, supplies and others
  • Demonstrated achievements in project management, coordinating timelines, budgets and reporting
  • Ability to lead internal and external stakeholders
  • Proactive, creative, independent and highly organized
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to plan, schedule, budget and execute programs and/or events
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications and contact management systems
  • Experience or understanding of research/academic institutions will be considered a highly valuable asset, but is not required
