The goal of my research is to learn about fundamental physics using observations of the large-scale properties of the Universe. I do both theoretical work and data analysis, and have recently been primarily focused on using data from a galaxy survey called the Dark Energy Survey (DES), which measures galaxy clustering and weak gravitational lensing. I'm interested in looking for new ways for us to extract physics information out of cosmology experiments, making sure the theoretical and statistical tools we're using to do that extraction are accurate enough to match the fantastic precision of current and next-generation experiments, and in actually applying those tools to perform analyses. Within DES I've led development of the collaboration's method for blinding cosmology analyses to prevent unconscious experimenter bias from influencing the results, and co-lead an analysis using the first three years of DES data to constrain several possibilities for physics beyond the standard cosmological model.
