Nyla Ahmad is both a strategic thinker and a hands-on operator responsible for turning ideas into action. Her fierce resolve ensures rapid product development, disciplined and focused operations, and fosters the innovation culture required to keep new technology startups in lock step with the rapidly evolving location-based world.  Always on the cutting edge of new technologies, she has a strong background in product development and a proven track record of team success.  She has held several leadership roles during her 12-year tenure at Rogers, shaping the company’s response to changing market conditions, technological innovation, Internet adoption patterns, partner ecosystems, and evolving customer expectations around service and value.

Rogers’ Local Digital Services group is focused on driving new business growth by seizing opportunities within the nascent local digital marketplace – opportunities that arise from the convergence of local, social, and mobile trends. Recently re-located to the historic Rogers building on Lake Shore Boulevard, home to the Rogers-Magestic radio factory during the 1930s, Ms. Ahmad digs deep into the company’s innovation roots and market intuition to launch transformational digital services—such as OutRank by Rogers, Zoocasa, Vicinity Rewards, and Rogers Alerts. Under her leadership, the group has produced great results – delivering four companies and 200%+ annual revenue growth in just 24 months.

Previously within Rogers, she has held roles in Corporate Strategy (Partnership Group), Rogers Cable, and helped to launch the Internet division of Rogers Media. Her successes include leading the launch of Rogers-Yahoo High Speed Internet service in 2004, overseeing the development of cross-platform content and advertising services with Excite@Home and the mobile web, and in 1998 was a pioneer in online video innovation and rich-media advertising on Rogers@Home, Canada’s first broadband portal.

Ms. Ahmad is active on the Boards of the Ontario Media Development Corporation and Canadian Women in Communications, is an Advisor to the Centre for Strategic Digital Leadership, was a 2010 participant in the prestigious Judy Project, and in 2009 received the Canadian Women in Communications Technology Innovator Award. In 1996, she authored the bestseller Cybersurfer: the OWL Internet Guide for Kids, launched OWLKids Online and created CHIRP magazine, which was vote 1997 Magazine of the Year.

She gives her time to actively sponsor and mentor rising talent, is past-President of the Rogers Women’s Network, and speaks frequently on technology, innovation culture and leading high-performance teams.
