It starts with school kids.
Over one million students have used our classroom resources and our International Summer School for Young Physicists (ISSYP) has changed lives.
ISSYP, our annual summer camp for gifted high school students, is an enrichment opportunity like no other. Participants learn intensively, meet Perimeter scientists, visit laboratories, and bond over a shared love of physics. It often helps talented young students make the decision to pursue physics at the university level.
2004 ISSYP participant Laurence Perrault Levasseaur, for example, is now a PhD candidate at Cambridge who was named one of Scientific American’s “30 under 30” young scientists to watch.
For Levasseur, ISSYP was transformational – it was the beginning of her life in science. “ISSYP profoundly modeled my view of science,” Levasseur said in her interview with Scientific American.
Levasseur is currently investigating the universe’s first moments, trying to better understand physics today.

Inspiring the public
We bring science into pubs and living rooms: our last festival, Quantum to Cosmos, reached over a million people. Our award-winning documentary, The Quantum Tamers, has been shown in 60 countries.
Our Perimeter Public Lecture Series, presented by Sun Life Financial, is our longest-running, highest-profile public event. Since 2003, the series has brought great thinkers from around the world to Waterloo to share transformative ideas on various subjects: from mathematics to physics, from history to healthcare, from the origin of snowflakes to the possibility of life beyond earth. Past lecturers have included Nobel Prize winners, playwrights, historians, and, of course, an all-star line up of scientists.
Help us share science with the world.
Training and resources for teachers
Perimeter offers in-class resources and training workshops that give teachers the tools they need to teach cutting-edge theoretical physics to tomorrow’s scientists.
EinsteinPlus, for example, is our annual week-long workshop for Canadian and international high school teachers. E+ gives high school teachers access to top researchers, effective teaching strategies, and outstanding in-class resources – so they can return home and teach their students all about the mind-bending, fascinating concepts of modern physics, from special relativity to quantum theory to cosmology.
Through our Perimeter Teacher Network, we reach thousands more educators. Trained by our Outreach team, Teacher Network members deliver peer-to-peer workshops to fellow educators in their home school districts.
