On Thursday, May 17th, 2007, the Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper, unveiled the government’s new Science & Technology agenda. Other members of the government taking part in the information session were Maxime Bernier, Industry Minister, and Jim Flaherty, Canada’s Finance Minister. Also attending was Rona Ambrose, President of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada as well as Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of Western Economic Diversification.
The announcement took place at Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo, Ontario, and was attended by many business and academic leaders who share common interests in knowledge creation, research and innovation. In a recent independent and peer reviewed assessment (NSERC Review), Perimeter Institute was determined to be an exemplary model of public-private partnership in scientific research and educational outreach.
