Perimeter Institute is pleased to serve as a “Nominating Partner” for the Governor General’s annual Innovation Awards.

Launched in 2015, The Governor General’s Innovation Awards celebrate outstanding Canadian individuals, teams, and organizations whose innovations have shaped our society.

The program of national recognition also aims to inspire the next generation of brilliant, entrepreneurial thinkers.

As one of 35 Nominating Partners nationwide, Perimeter Institute is tasked with locating innovative individuals and/or groups that meet the program’s criteria.

A full list of Nominating Partners, details on the nomination process, and the selection criteria are available on the official awards site.

Those who would like to suggest a nominee for Perimeter’s consideration are invited to review the criteria at the link above, then contact Angela Robinson (arobinson@pitp.ca) with the name(s) and any background information that may be helpful, before Tuesday, October 11, 2016.

After all Nominating Partners submit their candidates to the Governor General in November, up to six winners will be identified through a two-stage, merit-based selection process overseen by the Canada Foundation for Innovation. The awards will be presented in spring 2017.

Located in the Region of Waterloo, the not-for-profit Institute is a unique public-private endeavour, including the Governments of Ontario and Canada, that enables cutting-edge research, trains the next generation of scientific pioneers, and shares the power of physics through award-winning educational outreach and public engagement.
