Moffat is currently exploring cosmology, quantum gravity and fundamental problems in modified gravity theory. He is investigating ways to solve the cosmological constant problem, which is a pressing issue in cosmology and particle physics. He is discovering alternative models of the early universe, and their consequences for current and future observations of the cosmic microwave background and supernovae data. He is investigating alternative models of Electroweak Theory in particle physics.
