What is Quantum Foundations?

Quantum Foundations

Quantum foundations concerns the conceptual and mathematical underpinnings of quantum theory. Research at PI addresses issues such as how quantum theory should be interpreted, what the deeper principles are which underlie the theory, and how quantum theory might be modified. This often involves the search for, and analysis of, novel quantum effects which illustrate the peculiar properties of the theory. Research in the foundations of quantum theory naturally interfaces with research in quantum information and quantum gravity.
