Communications Specialist (1 year contract) - Competition #20091029

Reporting to the Writer/Editor, the Communications Specialist will assist in the creation, development, production and maintenance of print and electronic communication materials related to Perimeter Institute and its programs.

The successful candidate will have a University or College degree/diploma in a related discipline or comparable work experience. Specifically, candidates must have demonstrated skills in technical, promotional, and internal communications writing with exceptional proofreading skills, desktop publishing, publishing web content using html markup applications, graphic design and illustration skills, familiarity with information and usability design for online publication, project management and problem solving skills, and advanced working knowledge of MS Office and the Adobe CS3 and/or CS4 suite of applications. The ideal candidate would also possess skills in photography, graphic design, animation and multimedia development and have experience with IM systems and working within a non-profit organization.  An interest in science and fluency in French would be considered assets.
