Perimeter Institute has an immediate opening for the position of Communications Coordinator in support of a wide range of internal/external projects and authored materials.

Reporting to the Director of External Relations and Communications, the Communications Coordinator will be responsible for:

• Assisting with a wide array of projects involving government, media and community relations. Tasks include the hands-on authoring of key messages, delivery of content in a highly targeted manner, organizing successful meetings for PI executives and senior researchers, and providing follow-up materials as needed
• Oversight of the Contact Coordinator and key databases, including the scientific contact database and delivery of key messages to the research community
• Contributing to major documents, such as government reports, through the assembly of data and authoring of finished content
• General support for the Director by vetting a wide range of incoming requests, authoring briefing documents and bios, and scheduling activities
• Providing back-up to other members of the department as needed, including writing and contact coordination duties

The role is a 14-month contract position with considerable opportunity to demonstrate a variety of high-level skills within a dynamic and rapidly growing organization.

Your background must include post secondary education or equivalent experience in Communications, English, Journalism/Writing or similar discipline and at least 3 years of proven Communications Coordinator experience. Previous work with academic institutions and the media is considered an asset. Writing and proofing skills are essential. Advanced knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and Outlook are required and experience with contact management systems is an asset.
