WATERLOO, ON, September 21, 2007 — One of Canada’s largest newsgathering organizations, Global National News with Kevin Newman, will broadcast a full, live newscast from Waterloo on Thursday, September 27th. The special program plans to examine the innovative culture in Waterloo. Many organizations will be noted – including Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics (PI), the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI), the University of Waterloo (U of W) and, via an industry association known as Communitech, the many high-tech companies throughout the Region of Waterloo. The newscast will be anchored by Kevin Newman who describes Waterloo as “the new intellectual capital of Canada…” and says “we wanted to showcase some of the emerging cities that are really making an impact on the province’s success…”. This is perhaps due, in part, to the City’s unique distinction of being voted “World’s Top Intelligent Community 2007”. Entering its seventh broadcast year since its inception in 2001, Global National has grown to become one of Canada’s most popular newscasts. The award-winning program will broadcast live from CIGI on September 27th with news about Waterloo’s innovative approach to research, education and industry. Other top stories of the day will be reported via news bureaus and correspondents located in every major city in Canada, as well as Washington, D.C.
