Options for Mathematica Student Free Day: Wednesday, August 3, 2011 

We hope you explore beautiful Southern Ontario on your free day while attending the Mathematica Summer School at Perimeter Institute. Please find below a list of things to do including more information and links.
 
St. Jacob’s Country

Explore the beautiful town of St. Jacob’s, famous for Mennonites, maple syrup, shops and antiques, baked goods and local artisan crafts

  • Get there by taxi: 519-886-1200
           Cost: approximately $14/one way 
           Travel time one way: approximately 15 min
  • Get there by public transit:
           Cost: $2.50 cash one way
           Travel time one way: approximately 1 hr
                o   Go to South Campus Hall on the UW campus Bus Stop #2515 (Route 31 to Conestoga Mall)
                o   Transfer at the Mall bus terminal to Bus Stop #3798 (Route 21 to Elmira)
                o   Get off at Bus Stop #2093 on King Street in St. Jacob’s
  • Remember to ask the Bus Driver if you need help or are unsure of your route. Also inquire about times for departing St. Jacob’s

Conestoga Mall

City of Waterloo and Waterloo Park

Uptown Waterloo has much to offer in the way of shops, food and entertainment. Waterloo Park has a beautiful water feature with swans and wild local birds, picnic areas and large green spaces. Both Uptown and the Park are within walking distance of UW.
 
Niagara Falls

Visit one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World. Niagara Falls also has casinos, restaurants, shops and tons of entertainment

Toronto

Canada’s largest city is bustling with activity. Take in a show or theater production, visit the CN Tower, one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, enjoy restaurants and bars, Queen Street or Front Street. There’s so much to see and do.
