Physics 490 Course Coordinator: Freddy Cachazo Type: University of Guelph & University of Waterloo credit course for 4th year Physics undergraduate students. Dates: January 8 - April 7, 2008, Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 - 8:00 pm Location: Perimeter Institute, Bob Room | | |
Prerequisite Basic knowledge of quantum mechanics and good knowledge of classical mechanics. Content This course is an introduction to some of the most exciting ideas in fundamental physics. The topics are chosen to represent areas of research currently conducted at Perimeter Institute. Each topic will be discussed for one or two weeks and will be lectured by a leading young researcher in each field. From deep conceptual issues on the meaning of quantum theory, passing through very sophisticated theories like string theory and loop quantum gravity all the way to cosmology and quantum information theory, this course is a challenging intellectual adventure. Shuttle Service from University of Guelph To sign up for the shuttle van please contact Reggi Vallillee, University of Guelph Physics Department. The van leaves on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:00 pm from behind the McLaughlin Library at the east end of the science complex. It will return to the same location after the course. |
