Pearson International Airport (YYZ) Kitchener-Waterloo is located 90 km west of Toronto’s Lester B. Pearson International Airport (YYZ). Canada's only national airline, Air Canada (tel: 1.888.247.2262), operates direct flights to Pearson from most major American cities and many smaller ones. It also flies from major cities around the world and operates connecting flights from other U.S. cities. The airport serves more than 50 airlines. Arriving at the Airport
Pearson International Airport is the busiest in Canada.There are tourism information booths at all terminals. Also check out the resources below: Getting to Waterloo from Pearson International Airport Car: 1. Take Highway 427 south to 401 west. 2. Follow the below driving directions in the By Car section. Airways Transit The cheapest way to Waterloo from Pearson is by Airways Transit (tel: 519.886.2121) C$45/Adult & C$28/Child. Taxis The fare to Waterloo is about C$100. Region of Waterloo International Airport (YKF)Perimeter Institute is located 17 km from the Region of Waterloo International Airport (YKF). Currently, WestJet Airlines and Bearskin Airlines operate out of Waterloo Airport. BY CAR
Coming from the United States:
The U.S. highway system leads directly into Canada at 13 points. If you're driving from Michigan, you'll enter at Detroit-Windsor (I-75 and the Ambassador Bridge) or Port Huron-Sarnia (I-94 and the Bluewater Bridge). If you're coming from New York, you have more options. On I-190, you can enter at Buffalo-Fort Erie; Niagara Falls, New York-Niagara Falls, Ontario; or Niagara Falls, New York-Lewiston. On I-81, you'll cross the Canadian border at Hill Island; on Route 37, you'll enter at either Ogdensburg-Johnstown or Rooseveltown-Cornwall. Once in Canada:
To get to Perimeter Institute from Highway 401 (east or west):
1. Exit 278 (Highway 8 west) and follow 8 West for 5 km to Highway #85, towards #7 East. 2. Proceed on Highway #85 for 5 km to Bridgeport Road exit. Turn right at the off-ramp, traveling west. 3. Follow Bridgeport Road for 2 km into downtown Waterloo. Bridgeport is a four-lane one-way road. It becomes Caroline Street at Albert Street. Continue straight ahead. 4. Travel forward another 200 meters, but ease over into the right hand lane. As you go down a hill and around a curve, look for the green Perimeter Institute sign on the right hand side.
Parking Please note there is NO parking at Perimeter Institute. We advise that you arrive earlier than usual to find parking in the UpTown Waterloo core. Google Maps Get Directions BY RAILVIA Rail (tel. 1.888.842.7245) offers passenger rail service which runs daily from Chicago to Toronto to Kitchener.
VIA Rail Station in Kitchener is located at 126 Weber Street West, Kitchener, ON N2H 3Z9
Taxis are available at the station and it costs approximately $15 to travel to Perimeter Institute. Taxis are readily available on Charles Street at the Terminal. To get to Perimeter Institute from the Terminal take Bus Route 7C, 7D or 7E to Erb Street in Uptown Waterloo. Greyhound CanadaGreyhound (tel: 1.800.661.8747) offers scheduled stops at the Grand River Bus Terminal (Kitchener-Waterloo Public Transit station) and other communities in the region. Please visit their website for details. Note: You can not purchase tickets at the Grand River Bus Terminal. Check Greyhound to buy tickets in advance or locate ticket booths. Coach Canada (Trentway-Wagar)Coach Canada Trentway-Wagar (tel: 1.416.961.9666 or 1.800.461.7661) has buses every two hours to the Kitchener bus terminal from the Hamilton bus station or McMaster University campus. Waterloo and the surrounding area offers an abundance of attractions suitable for everyone.
