Contemporary jazz greats and rising stars infuse the intimate atmosphere of the Black Hole Bistro with unforgettable music and evenings to remember. Concerts typically take place once a month.

Dinner at the Black Hole Bistro
We are now offering for our patrons' convenience, the ability to make a dinner reservation at the same time of ticket purchase.  Dinner reservation spots are limited, and if there are none available at the time of your ticket purchase, please call 519.883.4480 to join a dinner reservation wait list. Only pre-performance dinner patrons may reserve a table. Doors open at 7:30pm for all other event ticket holders. Seating is coordinated on the evening of the event on a first come first served basis.

Ticket prices do not include any costs associated with dinner, beverages or gratuities.

There are swingers, and then there is Matt Dusk - a singer, songwriter, producer, arranger and fervent jazz-pop musicologist blessed with the perfect name...for his spirit truly comes out as night approaches and concert audiences await. The Black Hole Bistro is pleased to present an evening with this Canadian native and Juno Award nominee, who has spent most of his career reanimating the great American songbook alongside some of his own more quirky, pop creations. He scored a gold album with his debut CD 'Two Shots' and a chart-topping adult contemporary single with 'All About Me'.

  Sisters Euclid featuring Kevin Breit

Sisters Euclid, a group of Toronto-based musicians that are known for their eclectic music styles will be joined by internationally renowned guitarist Kevin Breit who lists recordings and performances with the likes of Norah Jones, Rosanne Cash, Susana Baca, Bill Frisell, k.d. lang, Cassandra Wilson, Holly Cole, Jeb Loy Nichols, and Dal Bello, among the varied artists that seek his innovative guitar style.

Gemini and Juno nominated vocalist Dione Taylor returns to the Black Hole Bistro for another evening of jazz and song.

  Robi Botos Trio

  March 27 at 8:00 pm  (doors open at 7:30 pm)

Robi Botos, a self-taught pianist from Hungary who has made Toronto his home since 1998 is barely into his 30s but already has international recognition for many performing accomplishments. He won the 2004 solo piano competition at Montreux, opened there for Oscar Peterson the following year, was voted keyboard player of the year at the 2007 National Jazz Awards, and recently won first prize in the 2008 Great American Jazz Piano Competition in Jacksonville, Florida.

Robi will be joined by his brother Frank Botos on drums, and Attila Darvas on bass.

  Diana Panton

Diana Panton is being heralded as one of Canada’s most promising jazz vocalists. Her aesthetic sense has attracted the attention of some of the jazz world’s most respected masters. Panton has performed with international jazz luminaries including Guido Basso, Mike Murley, Phil Nimmons, Kenny Wheeler and was a featured soloist with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Akido Endo.


Ms Panton will be joined for this performance by Don Thompson on piano and Neil Swainson on bass.

  John Tank with the Don Thompson Trio

  November 14 at 8:00 pm  (doors open at 7:30 pm)

To many Canadians, tenor saxophonist John Tank has been somewhat of a legendary figure in the world of live Jazz performance for the past forty five years. His unique voice has evolved out of a modern Jazz experience strongly rooted in tradition. His playing has been described as "creative, smooth, strong, rhythmic, harmonic and melodic."

John will be joined by the Don Thompson Trio. Don has been one of the leading lights of the Canadian jazz scene for well over 35 years. A tireless performer and visionary artist on piano, bass, vibraphone, and drums, Don is also a consummate composer and arranger, considered one of Canada's most gifted jazz writers.

  The Glenn Buhr Band

  October 24 at 8:00 pm  (doors open at 7:30 pm)

Glenn Buhr is a composer and pianist whose music has been championed internationally by jazz ensembles, orchestras, soloists and ballet companies for two decades.

His latest jazz-oriented CD - 'Thru The Wounded Sky' (Marquis) - was heralded by the Globe & Mail as one of the top jazz CD's of 2007.

This show - with a collection of Toronto's hottest musicians - will feature some of Buhr's work from 'Thru the Wounded Sky' along with music by Miles Davis, Tom Waits, Don Redman, Radiohead and Thelonious Monk.

Jake Langley, has quickly taken his place as one of Canada's premier jazz guitarists. New York Magazine says "infectious...Langley (is) one of the most notable Canadian musicians to come to light in the past years."
